About The Shirelles
If the Shirelles would be performing today, chances are that they would form like the Spice Girls did, by audition. However, this was not the case with them, and four high school friends, Doris Coley, Addie 'Micki' Harris, Shirley Owens, and Beverly Lee wrote a song for their school's talent show called 'I Met Him on a Sunday.' A school friend got them an audition with their mother, who ran a small record label. Was impressed enough to become their manager and the change their name to the Shirelles.
