About Oasis
One of the subtexts of the 90s Britpop trend was the rivalry between Oasis and Blur. The Gallaghers' band was more rooted in the British Invasion style of rock, while Blur were more a Madchester wild bunch. Oasis have managed to win the battle in many senses, with about as many albums as Blur had (six to Blur's seven), eight number one hits and 60 million albums sold worldwide.
