About Lloyd Cole
Already on the first album Lloyd Cole released, with his former band the Commotions, in 1984, the pretentious songwriter made references to Norman Mailer, Truman Capote, Eva Marie Saint and Joan Didion, among others. In his later career, a solo career in fact, Lloyd Cole would continue referencing other artists, mostly in the form of covers, recording new versions to songs by Marc Bolan and T Rex (Children of the Revolution), Leonard Cohen (Famous Blue Raincoat and Chelsea Hotel), Nick Cave (People Ain't No Good) and others.
