About Frankie Goes To Hollywood
The early 80s saw quite a few New Wave bands that were commercial success, some even controversial. With spiky haircuts and tight clothes, sexual openness and inspired by punk music of the 70s, the New Wave bands in England came knocking on the charts doors. But few seem to have been as successful, or as controversial, as Frankie Goes to Hollywood. Already with the first single release, the song Relax in 1983, which discusses explicit sexual and gay matters, Frankie Goes to Hollywood reached the top chart spot and had radio stations try to ban it, to no avail.
