About Average White Band
The greatest success that the Average White Band has seen was during the second half of the 70s with some R&B and disco hits. Drummer Robbie McIntosh, however, has lived to see only the beginning of the successful run, as he died in 1974 of heroin overdose. By 1980 Average White Band members would mostly perform with other musicians, though the band has kept its name and continues recording to today.
