Danish dance-pop band Aqua are best known for the single Barbie Girl from 1997. It was one of three singles to hit the UK charts and land at number one. The fast success Aqua have been fortunate to enjoy led to 28 million record sales in their short time of existence, but did not quiet down critics who found them extremely poppy and a late resurfacing of Eurodance style that has long disappeared from the music world.
