Richard D. James' recordings as Aphex Twin take the techno sounds of the late 80s to new directions. Aphex Twin himself is shy of media attention, as he wishes his music to take the stage on its own right. He is hard to pinpoint in style, though the closest definition, possibly, is if Nine Inch Nails record ambient techno. His work is compared with the Orb's Adventures Beyond the Ultraworld in its definitive ambient style.
